THE NEW SINGLE IS OUT NOW!

HOW IT STARTED

As I was working on my debut album, “Evolution,” I met Rene Orth at Opera Philadelphia for the world premiere of her new opera, "10 Days in a Madhouse." I completely fell in love with her music and the way she used electronics to create emotional worlds of colors for my character and I wondered what her music would sound like if she wrote something with just electronics, so I asked her if she would write something for my new album! After the huge responses that her piece garnered, including being voted “Best of classical music in 2023" by the Washington Post, she was feeling like celebrating and wrote "I Praise the Dance" for me. When I headed into the studio, I had learned the notes she had written but then was feeling creative so I started layering some harmonies and some silly sounds and just whatever came to mind, thinking most of it probably wouldn't be used. The next time I heard it, Rene had integrated so much of it seamlessly! So we knew we had something special but we also knew we were a very classical team. So at the time I had just met RuPaul Drag Race’s Sapphira Cristal and she told me about Ocean Kelly so I excitedly invited them to see what their take on it would be and she brought her larger than life energy to the mix!  Everyone we've played it for has immediately started moving and smiling, and in my career as an opera singer with predominantly sad or angry roles because of my voice type, this is a fabulous infusion of pure joy.  It's a departure from the traditional, and I love that for me 😊.
